Pauls Valley, Oklahoma —
A three-day filing period begins today for anyone thinking about running for a spot on their local school boards for districts here in Garvin County at the Garvin County Election Board office in the county courthouse in Pauls Valley.
The filings for board of education incumbents looking for another term or those looking to become a candidate will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all three days through Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Most of the school board offices that are part of the filings are for five-year terms, including the Pauls Valley post currently held by Michelle Wood.
Other five-year board posts in the county included in the filings are Paoli, Wynnewood, Elmore City-Pernell, Maysville, Stratford and Lindsay.
Unexpired board offices in Wynnewood (3 years) and Maysville (3 years and 2 years) are also set for the filings.
In Whitebead a three-year term is also a part of the filings.
The filings here also include school districts in Alex, Bray-Doyle, Byars and Davis, along with Mid America Technology Center, Southern Oklahoma Technology Center, Red River Technology Center and Canadian Valley Technology Center.
Any races that do emerge will be contested during an annual school election scheduled for Feb. 12, 2013.
Any school runoff election would come on April 2, 2012.
Filings for local municipal offices next year will come April 4-6, 2013.
