The first Jefferson School was built in 1906, designed by Superintendent Bonny Youngblood as a replica of the Alamo (front). The eight front steps represented the eight grades it was to house. The photo was taken in 1930. Notice the landscaping which included a pond with fountain.
This was the grand opening of the G.F. Wacker Store in Lindsay in 1946. Nylon hose was the biggest item that day. Notice the long line of women. Hose were quite scarce during World War II; parachutes, etc. were more important.

Pauls Valley Historical Society seeks old photos

The old saying, “a picture speaks a thousand words” is so true. The Pauls Valley Historical Society has a great assortment of old photos and we ar e hope to increase the collection.

We urge you to share your family’s old photos with us just to copy and return. We would like pictures that show events, places, people, recreation, schools, downtown Pauls Valley and other areas.

On this page are some of the photos that have been donated to the Historical Society.
