Every December, for the last three years, the residence at 401 N. Pine in Pauls Valley has been a main attraction for motorists from all over the area.
People come from far and wide to pass by the house and get a glimpse of one of the most spectacular Christmas light shows found anywhere in the state.
Row-upon-row of brilliantly-colored Christmas lights adorn the home and yard and the man behind the incredible holiday display is long-time resident, Brent Grimmett.
There are so many strings of lights and electrical connections included in the display, Grimmett said he has to start decorating weeks in advance in order to have everything up-and-running in time for the Christmas season.
“I have to start early because it takes quite a while to put everything together, and this year we have even more lights than we’ve ever had before,” Grimmett explained.
“I’ve installed 64 more circuits this year and added six more trees to the giant Dancing Christmas Tree display. I’ve also added some new dancing arches to the light show, so now there are about 75,000 lights total.”
Besides a staggering number of flashing lights, one of the things that makes Grimmett’s holiday extravaganza so special is the musical accompaniment.
“The lights are programmed to flash in rhythm to Christmas songs and there are several different ones we play. But they can’t be heard outside,” Grimmett said
“You have to turn on your car radio and tune in to 88.5 on the FM dial. Every time the lights are turned on, the music will begin to play on the radio station.”
Along with the lights and music, Grimmett said an added treat is in store for any kids who get a chance to stop by his house the week of Christmas.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday —December 21 through 23 — Santa Claus himself will be at the Grimmett home to pass out candy to visiting children, so area kids need to be sure and show up.
