Friday begins in person absentees

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — One deadline is on Halloween, while voters wanting to get an early jump on next week’s general election have their chance starting Friday, Nov. 2.

The in-person absentee voting is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday followed by 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 and a full day on Monday, Nov. 5 (8 a.m.-6 p.m.).

No reason is needed as eligible voters may cast the early ballots during the three-day period at the Garvin County Election Board office in the county courthouse in Pauls Valley.

For those still interested in having absentee ballots mailed to them, applications are available at the Election Board office or online at the www.ok.gov/elections website.

The deadline to submit the applications for mailed absentee ballots is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.

All voters in Garvin County can make their choices in the big race for U.S. president, one U.S. House race, six state questions and a long list of judges for the Oklahoma Supreme Court and the courts of criminal and civil appeals.

Different parts of the county will also have two state Senate races and four state House offices.

On the ballot is a Congressional race for the District 4 office in the U.S. House as Republican incumbent Tom Cole faces Democrat Donna Marie Bebo and Independent R.J. Harris.

One state Senate race is in District 13 as Democrat incumbent Susan Paddack faces Republican Fred E. Smith.

The Senate race in District 43 pits Democrat Mike Fullerton against Republican Corey Brooks.

Among the state House races is Republican incumbent Lisa Billy who seeks another term in the District 42 office while facing challenge from Democrat Steven Vines.

The other races in the state House are in District 48 with Democrat Brian Spencer going against Republican Patrick Ownbey, District 20 with Democrat Matt Branstetter facing Republican Bobby Cleveland and District 22 with Democrat Doris Anne Row facing Republican Charles A. McCall.

Dr. Tim Mauldin is scheduled to share information on the state questions during a forum open to the public at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at PV’s public library.
