A trio of criminal charges now has a Bethany man accused of committing lewd acts against three young girls, including his own granddaughter from the Elmore City area.
Not yet making his first court appearance on the charges is 66-year-old Robert Wallace, who claims no recollection of doing anything wrong, according to affidavits filed at the Garvin County Courthouse.
The recent charges filed in Garvin County District Court allege Wallace inappropriately touched three different girls on three separate occasions dating back two to three years.
Officers investigating the allegations reported Wallace claims to not recall anything because his short-term memory was effected by a stroke suffered several years ago.
“Robert did not deny or confess to the allegation,” county Deputy Travis Crawford stated in an affidavit.
All of the alleged acts are reported to have occurred at near a rural Elmore City residence.
The oldest dates back to 2003 or 2004 when Wallace is accused of touching his then 10-year-old granddaughter while the two and others were sleeping in a barn equipped with living quarters.
The girl told authorities she stopped the act and left the area.
The other girls involved in the alleged acts were family friends.
One came in November 2005 when the girl was 9 years old. She and Wallace were reportedly in a golf cart when the girl claims he put his arm around her and placed his hand underneath her shirt in the upper chest area.
According to the girl, the act was quickly stopped. She also claims to have smelled alcohol on Wallace’s breath.
A third incident allegedly occurred this past February when Wallace is accused of placing his hands on the upper chest area of a 10-year-old girl.
The three felony charges of lewd acts with a child were filed against Wallace on Dec. 21.
