Heart health focus of style show

The Pauls Valley Economic Group (Eg) will be sponsoring a fashion show on February 28, beginning at 11 a.m., in The Corner Market located at 115 South Chickasaw.

While the show will be featuring new spring clothing lines, fashion accessories, door prizes and refreshments, the main purpose of the event is to address a major health issue for women.

“We’re calling the event the ‘Heart Truth Style Show.’ February has been designated as Women’s Heart Health Month and this is simply a local effort to alert women about their personal risk factors for heart disease.

“Heart disease is the number one killer of women and basically we want to make women more aware of the symptoms that accompany heart problems, especially ones they may not be aware of,” explained Corner Market owner and Eg member Debbie Mott.

“You see, the symptoms of heart trouble in women are a lot different than they are in men, so women need to be aware of these and keep a watch out for them.”

According to Mott, Lou Hall will be a featured guest at the style show to provide a short presentation on women’s heart health awareness, hand out brochures, answer questions and address concerns.

Tickets for the style show are $5 in advance or $8 at the door and all proceeds will go to benefit the American Heart Association.

Tickets may be purchased at the Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce or from any participating merchant, including The Corner Market, thegallery, Sharp’s’ Department Store, Williamson’s Furniture, Your Framers and The Daisy Patch.

For more information contact Mott at 405-238-2640.
