Glimpse to come on Museum's Future

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — A glimpse into the future of a major tourist attraction in Pauls Valley is expected to be revealed during a gathering planned for later this week.

Details are for now a mystery as some type of announcement on the local Toy and Action Figure Museum should come during a press conference now scheduled for an 11 a.m. start on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

The announcement is big because of all the talk and speculation this summer about the possibility of the PV museum relocating to Oklahoma City and specifically the Bricktown area there.

More answers about the situation is expected to come during Wednesday’s announcement.

“There has been a lot of stuff going on this summer at the museum — a lot of drama,” museum director Lisa Driskill said.

“There has been a lot of publicity about the possible relocation to Bricktown or Oklahoma City. We’ll make an announcement about that. We would like to invite all media to be present to hear the announcement and discuss the museum’s future,” she said.

“We have made a decision so we’re going to share it with everybody at the press conference. There will be more on what the next phase will be for the museum.”

Driskill used the word “exciting” to describe the announcement on the museum’s future, especially since news leaked out in early July that a move away from Pauls Valley was a possibility.

At that time museum curator Kevin Stark announced the local attraction had been approached by political and tourism leaders in Oklahoma City interested in discussing a relocation move.

Since that time a big push has been underway to rally local support for the museum open in Pauls Valley for five years now.

That push focused on bringing in more individual and family memberships and corporate sponsorships.
