Lois Ellen Johnson of Wynnewood, Okla., was born to William Jay and Cora Mary (Almond) Courtney on November 26, 1935, in Lehigh, Okla., and passed from this life on September 10, 2009, in Norman, Okla., at the age of 73 years.
Lois grew up and attended school in Byars, Okla.
On May 14, 1955, Lois married Charles Johnson in Gainesville, Texas. Together they made their home in Wynnewood where they lived for the past 54 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wynnewood and a member of the Mother’s Club. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed camping, OU football and basketball, sewing, cooking and going to the lake. The highlights of her life were her children, grandchildren and taking care of her family.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 54 years: Charles Johnson of the home; two sons: Larry Jay Johnson and his wife Claudia of Westfield, Indiana, and Charles Michael Johnson and his wife Lori of Norman, Okla.; four sisters: Sherry Peters and her husband Larry of Gunter, Texas, Sue Hall and her husband Jim of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mary Courtney of Moore, Okla., and Debra Courtney of Moore, Okla.; three grandchildren: Logan Jay Johnson, Joe Johnson and Magen Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cora Courtney; and sister, Betty Ellis.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Wynnewood with Rev. Kip Heatley officiating. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
