Donald ‘Don’ Gene Jones

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Donald “Don” Gene Jones, age 75, of Purcell passed away Tuesday January 2, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Don was born February 19, 1937 in Elmore City, Okla., the youngest of 3 children born to Robert Matthew Jones and Elva Isabell (Headrick) Jones. He was raised in Elmore City and attended Elmore City Schools, graduating in 1954.

One night, on a blind date, he met a young lady from Pauls Valley named Dorothy Warren. They were married 35 years and together raised 2 daughters, LaDonna and Angela.

Don worked mainly in sales and sold insurance for a time. He also worked as a policeman for the Pauls Valley community for a while. Don last worked for the Department of Corrections retiring in 1999.

Don later married Pauletta Jean Hulsey, and they made their home in Purcell.

Don loved the Lord and remained active in his church. He served in many capacities including youth director, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir director and Deacon.

In addition to his work, he remodeled homes and in his spare time, restored old cars and motorcycles. Later in life, he and Pauletta enjoyed traveling and frequenting Flea Markets.

Don was a loving husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and a good friend. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jones; his parents, Robert and Elva Jones; sister, Myrtle Mae Springer; an infant brother, Junior Jones; and his in-laws, Leonard and Adell Warren and Vernard Hulsey.

Don leaves behind his wife, Pauletta of the home; his daughters; LaDonna Beaver and husband Gary of Pauls Valley, and Angela Peak and husband Danny of Wynnewood; Stepson, Justin Morgan of Ashburn, Va.; 5 grandchildren: Amber, Melanie, Jordan, Ryan and Laycee; 3 great-grandchildren: Connor, Mili, and Adia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Purcell Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Fellowship Hall Building Fund, Purcell Pentecostal Holiness Church at P.O. Box 911, Purcell, OK, 73080. Online condolences at wilsonlittle.com.
