Mildred Francis Parten
Mildred Francis Parten, 79, of Pauls Valley was born December 15, 1930 in Burneyville, Oklahoma to Varney and Ruby Davis. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 8, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She and W.C. Parten were married April 21, 1948, and were inseparable for 51 years until he went to be with the Lord in 1999.
Mildred was led to the Lord by her neighbor in 1957 then shortly thereafter joined the Paul & Pine church of Christ. Love for her Lord and family and joy in serving others were her greatest pleasures.
Mildred was the ultimate wife and devoted mother and grandmother. She exemplified 1 Timothy 3:2 beautifully and it was indeed a delight to visit her home where she was rich in spirit, generous in heart and welcomed all who came. Her home was always filled with kindness and laughter.
She was preceded to heaven by her parents, Varney and Ruby Davis; her loving brother McDonald Davis, her beloved husband W.C., precious granddaughter Natasha Houser, and cherished daughter Pat Garrett.
She is survived by her brother, P.J. Davis of Pauls Valley; sister, Blanquita Dye of Oklahoma City; brother, Joe Davis of Marietta; son, Roy Parten, of Tulsa; daughter, Carol Houser and her husband Jerry of Catoosa; son, Jerry Parten and his wife JoAnn of Pauls Valley; grandchildren: Michael Taylor, Shelly Cardwell and Shawna Smith, all of Norman, Marcus Garrett of Scott AFB, Ill., Melissa Coker of Owasso, and Dallas Parten of Tulsa; 11 great-grandchildren and many wonderful family members and friends.
Mildred was the epitome of the Gospel scriptures that guide us to love thy neighbor. Her faith ran like a vine through her family; every sweet, unselfish act became an unfolding leaf of compassion and goodness; always there for those in need and those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her love and kindness will be forever grateful.
She will be dearly missed, but her unblemished testimony will forever be etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May the enormous amount of love she gave here on earth surround her in Heaven. The family expresses a special thank you and gratefulness for the many calls, visits, notes, flowers, food, and prayers during her illness.
We also extend a great appreciation for the exceptional care given by the nurses and staff of Valley Hospice and to Dr. Steven Moore for his caring compassion during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Roy Shave. Interment will be at Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. Notes of Remembrance and/or Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stufflebeanfuneralhome.com.
