James R. Maxwell of Norman, Oklahoma was born to Robert C. and Ruth O. (Barber) Maxwell Jr. on March 24, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed from this life on January 9, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years.
Jim grew up and attended school at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Jim was a singer/songwriter and will be remembered for his creativity. He worked as a paint contractor and in his spare time he enjoyed sailing. Jim had a passion for music and photography and spending time with his numerous friends.
Mr. Maxwell is survived by his life-long companion Karen Orofino of Flower Mound, Texas; brothers Bob Maxwell and wife Deanna of Dallas, Texas, Steve Maxwell and wife Amy of Elmore City, Oklahoma, and Paul Maxwell of Norman, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ruth Maxwell Jr.
A gathering to celebrate James’ life was held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church in Pauls Valley.
