David Gene Garrett

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — David Gene Garrett was born March 21, 1946 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, the fifth of six children born to Clarence Hastings and Alta Marie (Drennan) Garrett.

He passed from this life on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, 2012 in Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years.

David was raised in and graduated from Elmore City in 1964, served in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1967 to 1973, worked at the Wynnewood Refinery for many years, was co-owner along with two brothers managing Triangle Construction in Oklahoma City before returning to settle in Elmore City in the late 1980s.

David was married to the mother of his children, Jeannie Blevins Garrett (now Smith) from 1966 to 1993. Two children were born of the marriage, Ginger Gayle Garrett Davis in 1967 and Scott Hastings Garrett in 1972.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Hastings Garrett in 1965 and Marie Drennan Garrett in 1995; two brothers, Joe Lynn Garrett in 2000 and Gordon Dale Garrett in 2004.

He is survived by one sister, Margie Nelle Garrett Foster of Hennepin; two brothers: Charles Allen Garrett and his wife Judy of Tuttle, and Jerry Don Garrett and his wife Shirley of Newcastle; sister-in-law Sandi Garrett of  Edmond; two children: Ginger Gayle Garrett Davis and her husband Brian of Oklahoma City, and Scott Garrett of Elmore City: three grandchildren: Devin Scott Davis, Zachery William Davis, and Bailey Elizabeth Davis of Oklahoma City; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family.

Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Church of Christ in Elmore City with Joe Terrell and Daniel Johnson officiating.

Interment was at the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
