Harold Gene McGee

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Harold Gene McGee, after 74 wonderful years in this world, passed away in his home on December 6, 2012. He was born March 31, 1938 in Whitebead, Oklahoma to Clyde and Blanche McGee.

When he transferred to the Pauls Valley school system from Whitebead he met Betty Ladd of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He and Betty were married on September 12, 1955.

He loved fishing and the horse races. He was a lifetime member of Pauls Valley Church of Christ and enjoyed fellowship in the church. He retired after 40 years from Kerr-McGee Refinery.

He and his wife, Betty, retired to Satellite Beach to enjoy time with their granddaughter, Bethany Davies. She was the light of their life.

While in Florida, Harold and Betty were active members of the West Melbourne Church of Christ where Harold became the Director of the church’s food bank. They enjoyed living in Florida for 13 years. He and Betty returned to Pauls Valley in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Darold McGee of Sacramento, California; his father, Clyde McGee of Pauls Valley; his mother Blanche Bowman of El Cajon, California; and his step mother Elzada McGee of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

Survivors are his wife of over 57 years, Betty McGee of Pauls Valley; two daughters Carrie Daley of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and Cristina Davies and her husband Frank of Cocoa Beach, Florida; one granddaughter Bethany Davies of Orlando, Florida; and a close family friend Danny Spray of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by two brothers, Bill McGee of Moore, Okla., and James McGee and his wife Linda of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sisters, Mary Kay Yates and her husband Wyatt of Pauls Valley, Okla., Paula McGee of McAlester, Okla., and Carol Haddock and her husband Philip of Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Roy Shave.

Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
