Pauls Valley —
Michael Lacy Blankenship was born May 30, 1962 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Barbara Riggs Blankenship. He passed away June 6, 2010 at his home in Bethany, Okla., at the age of 48 years.
Mike grew up in the Pauls Valley area and graduated in 1980. He received an academic scholarship to attend Southeastern University in the tennis program.
He also went to Spartans Aeronautical School of Flying and became an AMP technician to repair aircraft. He had a great love for flying, handgliders and experimental aircraft. He also loved his dog Abe.
Mike was a perfectionist in everything he worked on. He built model airplanes and model rockets, which he was always shooting into the sky, amazing his family.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Opal Riggs of Pauls Valley, and Granddad Burnie Drennan of Elmore City.
He is survived by his wife Marianne, his son Michael Jr. of Norman, brother Steve of Wynnewood, parents Max and Barbara Drennan of Wynnewood, one aunt Jan Williams, two uncles Ronnie and Tommie Riggs, grandmother Noma Drennan of Elmore City, and numerous cousins.
Services were conducted in Piedmont, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 12, 2010.
