Frieda Loyce Williamson

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Frieda Loyce Williamson, 85, passed from this life on February 7, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was born July 31, 1927 to parents N.M. and Pearl Claxton in Rosedale, Okla.

Frieda was devoted mother to her five children. After they were grown she decided to pursue her dream of being a writer and enrolled at the University of Oklahoma’s School of Journalism.

Frieda was very involved on campus and had published articles in many local magazines and newspapers. She wrote for the university paper “OU Daily,” worked at the OU Student Development Office and was also a regular contributor to the Oklahoma Historical Society as she completed her degree in Journalism.

She loved everything OU, including the Sooner football program and greatly enjoyed interviewing the athletes.

Through the years Frieda also had several works of poetry that were published, and enjoyed painting and shopping.

Though she had a long list of accomplishments in life, it was no secret that her greatest love and joy were her children and grandchildren.
