Alice Faye Willis

Alice Faye Willis, the seventh child of James and Hattie Willis, was born on October 28, 1948 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by parents, James and Hattie Willis, and one brother, Lawrence.

Alice, 59, received her very special life education and training throughout the 1950s ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s at the Taft and Pauls Valley State Schools and through her various interactions with family, work colleagues, church members and friends.

She was truly a person who will never be forgotten and who never forget any significant details. Through her very special life it was often said by many that she never forgets important details, such as birthdays and anniversaries.

She never met a baby whom her arms didn’t hold. Even in the midst of her pain she continued to pray for her friends and loved ones. Like the life of Jesus, her selflessness was certainly the Gold standard for those whom she interacted with.

At an early age Alice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She served God and her church in many capacities, as a member of the choir, praise team and was always willing to offer prayer for the sick and shut in.

Alice’s very active life included participation in the special Olympics, the county fair, where she won many awards, crocheting, singing in the church choir and many travels with family and friends.

She loved helping family members prepare holiday meals and loved a strong cup of coffee.

Family members enjoyed seeing and making her smile and always made her the center of attention and action.

As an adult she served as a Board Member of the State of Oklahoma’s Older Women’s Initiative and offered counsel and suggestions to many other state organizations on the treatment and care of aging Americans.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory; three brothers and two sisters: Willie Mae Jones (Herbert) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; James Willis (Tina) of Seale, Alabama; Tom Willis (Harriet) Wichita, Kansas; Erma Willis-Alford of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and Ray Willis (Marilyn) of Chicago, Illinois; six nephews, six nieces, six great-nephews, nine great-nieces and one great-great-nephew and a host of dedicated cousins and special friends. Like a true Christian soldier, Alice fought the good fight.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 29 from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. service at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
