Robert Olen Brooks of Wynnewood, Okla., went to be with his Lord on Nov. 7, 2009, at 82 years of age.
He was born Jan. 31, 1927, near Brady, Okla., to William Houston Brooks and Alma Faye Ward Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Archie, Earl, William, and Ernest Brooks; and one sister, Beulah Chaffin.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Imogene Simmons Brooks, and one son, Edwin Burl Brooks.
He is survived by wife, Joya Helen Brooks of Wynnewood, Okla.; son Robert Olen Brooks Jr.; and his daughter Victoria of Pauls Valley, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law, Belva Brooks Barber and Russell Barber and their daughters Brittney, Katelyn and Kasey of Poteau, Okla.; daughter Beverly Brooks of Pauls Valley, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law Stacy and Amy Brooks, and their children, Deegan and Sydnie of Decatur, Ark.
He is survived by one sister, Dana Brooks Ayers of Davis, Okla., numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Wynnewood, Okla., with the Rev. David Brooks and the Rev. Dale Ruggles officiating.
Interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, Okla., under direction of Wooster Funeral Home of Pauls Valley, Okla.
Pallbearers will be nephews Bill Chaffin, Mike Brooks, Bruce Brooks, Carl Brooks, Don Brooks and Darryl Rose.
