Ruth Etta (Hollingsworth) Bogard

Ruth Etta (Hollingsworth) Bogard of Pauls Valley was born May 3, 1922, in Wymore, Neb., to Harold B. and Bessie V. (Gladwin) Hollingsworth. Ruth grew up and attended Wymore schools and is a graduate of Wymore High School. She furthered her education by attending business college. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She met her future husband, Bryce D. Bogard in Wymore. Their first date was the night before Pearl Harbor. After World War II began she moved with her parents to Missouri and Bryce began serving a tour of duty in the U. S. Army in 1941. On Sept. 6, 1942, she and Bryce were married in Harris, Mo.

She and her husband owned and operated the Lawson Review newspaper in Lawson, Mo. Following the death of her husband she moved to Dallas, Texas, and began a new career in the home office of the Minyard Grocery Stores where she worked as secretary and safety coordinator. In 1988, she moved to Pauls Valley. She began working for Humphrey Realty and later for CLT Refrigeration.

Ruth loved to work on crafting projects including crocheting, wood burning, sewing and oil painting.

She passed away Nov. 13, 2009, in Pauls Valley at the age of 87 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, all six of her siblings, a daughter-in-law, Debi Bogard and a grandson, Matthew Moore.

Ruth is survived by her son, Donald Bogard of Glen Allen, Va.; two daughters, Janet Moore and her husband, Joe, of Pauls Valley, and Marcia Bogard of Moore, Okla.; her grandchildren, Cynthia Hamilton and her husband, Randy, of Pauls Valley, Cooper Bogard and Tanner Bogard of Glen Allen, Va; and Brandi Boden and her husband, Chuck, of Avon, Ind.; and David Jeffries of southern California; as well as two great-grandchildren, Carter Hamilton and Baxter Hamilton, both of Pauls Valley.

Funeral services are pending with the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home in Pauls Valley.
