Doris Jean Willeford

Doris Jean Willeford, 82, was born February 6, 1927 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Bill and Lizzie Mae (Gordon) Thomas. She passed away December 16, 2009 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; two sisters, Pauline Bowman and Neva Davis); one brother, James Thomas; her sons, Roger Dale Willeford and Gary Don Willeford; and one grandson, James Walter Ashley.

Doris is survived by her brother, Glenn Thomas of California; sister, Joann Miller of Noble, Oklahoma; daughter, Barbara Ann Sprowls and her husband John Sprowls, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; daughter, Donna Jean Haffner and her husband Stanton Haffner of Edmond, Oklahoma, and one son, James Glenn Willeford. She was also survived by 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and one 1 great-great-grandchild; and many cousins and nieces, nephews and friends.

Although Doris worked the majority of her life as a waitress in Pauls Valley and Wynnewood the majority, from the time her first grandchild was born until her health prevented it, “Nanny’s” life surrounded her family, especially the ‘little ones’. She loved all the times (and there were many) her grandchildren and great grandchildren would spend nights with her.

Doris is already missed but she’s at home now with her Lord, joining her loved ones who have gone home before her.

The family and loved ones of Doris would like to thank Pauls Valley Health Care Center, Pauls Valley Hospice and Dr. Roberson for their compassion and tireless care of our beloved Mother in her final days on this earth.

We miss you Momma.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Pauls Valley Hospice c/o Pauls Valley General Hospital, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Reid officiating. Interment will be in the Whitebead Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
