Stillman F. Garvin
Stillman F. Garvin, age 84, retired and living with his wife Audra L. Garvin in Katie, Okla., died in his home on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009.
He was born March 10, 1925, in the little town of Katie, Okla., to the late Lester and Ova Garvin. He attended Katie School, then served in the U.S. Army, during World War II and was stationed in Japan. He attained the rank of sergeant.
On Feb. 14, 2000, he was united in marriage to Audra L. Beall in Fayetteville, Ark.
In 2005 Stillman and Audra moved from Arkansas back to Katie, Okla., where they enjoyed their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, lots of gardening, camping, fishing and most of all The Desperados music and all of their friends and family, too many to mention.
Stillman is survived by his wife, Audra; his daughter and her husband, Patricia and Bill (Ron); his grandchildren: Brigette and her husband Mike and three great-grandchildren, Bob and his wife Julie and six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, Della and six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Brenda and her husband Dan and two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and Tammy and her husband Sean and two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; his daughter, Phyllis and two great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; his son, David and his wife Brenda and one great-grandchild; brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many, many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and his son Quinton.
Funeral services for Stillman F. Garvin will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Victory Baptist Church in Katie, Okla., with the Rev. Johnny Beckham officiating. Burial will be at the Katie Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, and will continue Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 from 9 a.m.-noon. You may send a condolence to the family at www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
