Billy Joe Taylor, 62, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma entered this life May 26, 1950 born to Starlin and Opal (Nalley) Taylor in Pauls Valley. He was the third of eight children.
Billy Joe entered eternal life on February 20, 2013 at his home.
Billy Joe spent his childhood days in the Whitebead area.
As an adult, most folks became acquainted with Billy Joe either at the U.S. Post Office in Pauls Valley or at the Garvin County Court House where he was a custodian. He spent each day at the Post Office from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. then was at the Court House until 3 p.m. when he would return to the Post Office and complete his day at 5 p.m. The postal job was six days a week.
Billy Joe was quiet and shy. His special gift of accepting others “just as they were” is the one attribute most will probably remember him by.
He was a very talented worker with wood. Fishing and going to the casino were his favorite hobbies.
Billy Joe is survived by his son Robert Taylor of Yukon, Okla.; brothers Noble Taylor of Pauls Valley and Larry Taylor of Duncan, Okla.; sisters JoAnn Morris, Bonnie Wilkerson, Linda Moore, and Connie Nabors, all of Pauls Valley, and Brenda Foster of Arkansas.
He is also survived by one grandchild, Skylar Taylor, who was the highlight of his life, and his special friend, Marilyn Looney.
Funeral services for Billy Joe were held Monday, February 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Don Dehart officiating.
Interment followed at Whitebead Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
