Miguel Rosendo Sondon

Miguel Rosendo Sondon of Pauls Valley was born March 1, 1939, in Perote, Veracruz, Mexico, and passed peacefully from this life at his home on January 13, 2010.

Rosendo moved to Pauls Valley in 1973 with his wife, Rebecca, to help start the Casa Rosa Mexican Restaurant (now Tio’s) and to farm. He loved his family and friends, gardening, and working outdoors and proudly received an appreciation plaque from the First Presbyterian Church for his years of landscaping service.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Hermelinda and Felix Sondon, and a brother, Felix, all of Veracruz, Mexico; mother-in-law and father-in-law Rosa and Heriberto Valenzuela; and brother-in-law Francisco Valenzuela, all of Pauls Valley.

Rosendo is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rebecca; daughter Carmen and husband Eduardo Jeronimo of Pauls Valley; and daughters Mayella and Becky of the home; sisters Rosa Garrido and Rocio Sondon of Veracruz, Mexico; sister-in-law Maria del Carmen (Mario) Serna of Laredo, Texas; brother-in-law Hector (Juanita) Valenzuela of Orlando, Florida; sister-in-law Susana (Juan) Romero, of Los Fresnos, Texas; sister-in-law Patricia Valenzuela (Jose Colon) of Paoli, Okla.; brother-in-law Humberto (Norma) Valenzuela of Killeen, Texas; brother-in-law Oscar (Dolores) Valenzuela of Marysville, Calif.; sister-in-law Diana (Steve) Tadlock of Corpus Christi, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends who love him dearly.

A Rosary will be held Friday, January 15 at 7 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Pauls Valley officiated by Father Michael Vaught.
