Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Delores Elaine Merrill, 81, went home to the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2013. She was born on July 30, 1931 to Everett and Minnie Gibbs on a farm outside of Dailey, Colorado.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband Robert of 50 years; mother, father and brothers LaVern Gibbs and Glen Gibbs.

She is survived by her daughter Lori Capshaw and husband Bill of Ardmore; her son Lynn and wife Nancy of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Megan, Anne and Evan Capshaw, Heather Burke and husband Bobby, Clinton Campbell, Andrew and wife Kelsey Merrill, and Amanda Merrill; great-grandchildren Chloe, Landon and Sophia Burke; brother Howard Gibbs and wife Helen of Haxtun, Colo.; sisters Marlys and husband Bill Kane of Haxtun, Colo., Donna Schultz of Los Lunas, N.M., and Janice Gibbs Atwater, Calif.; and sister-in-law Gwen and husband Stan of Sierra Vista, AZ.

Delores taught school after graduating college and served as a home maker upon marriage. She loved being a Mother and seamstress. She enjoyed cooking, gardening in flower beds, and traveling with Bob. She was always there to help on any project for own or other kids in the neighborhood.

While living in Paoli, Delores was part of the UMW at the First United Methodist Church of Pauls Valley and helped Bob with the Seekers Sunday School.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a memorial in her name at Pauls Valley First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Pauls Valley, with Pastor Rick Nichols and Rev. Mark Watson officiating.

Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.

The family gives a special thanks to Carolyn at Centennial Hospice and Tinesha and Cooper as well as others friends that help her over last 5 years.
