Jo Ann Amos

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Jo Ann Amos of Pauls Valley, was born December 11, 1951 in Byars, Oklahoma to Jacob Martin and Anna Bell (Wallace) Martin.

She passed away November 22, 2012 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years.

Jo Ann was raised in the area around Roff, Oklahoma and has made the Pauls Valley her home most of her life.

She loved being around her grandchildren and family get-togethers and picking on her son in law, Lencho; she also enjoyed going to church singings; and playing the piano, especially playing the 'Boogie-Woogie' for her family. Other activities that she enjoyed include watching her children play softball and football.

Jo Ann enjoyed the outdoors especially playing fast pitch baseball, in which she was the Pitcher; as well as playing basketball; and she was an avid OU enthusiast.

Jo Ann was married to Jessie Amos in Sulphur, Oklahoma at the New Hope Baptist Church on August 7, 2010. She was a CMA and CAN. She was a member of Sandy Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jason Gibson; 1 brother, Donald Hickman; 1 sister, Linda Gibson; niece, Candace Gibson; nephew, Johnny Wallace and first cousin, Lester Gibson, Sr.

Surviving family include her husband, Jessie Amos of the home; 2 children: Lester Gibson and his wife Tisha, and Shelly Garcia and her husband Lorenzo, all of Pauls Valley; 5 sisters: Christine Bates and June White Buffalo of Ada, April Castillo of Oklahoma City, Magdaline Meely of Ardmore, and Neatha Smith of McAlester; 5 brothers: RoddyHickman of Ada, Phillip Hickman and Henry Hickman of Roff, Herman Hickman of Tulsa, and Ronald Hickman of Denver, Colorado; 2 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 1 great granddaughter as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Viewing and visitation will be at the family home in Pauls Valley; a Wake will be held at the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home on Monday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Evelyn Wallace.

Interment will be at Sandy Hill Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
