Plainview blitzes Pauls Valley

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley Panthers needed to get out to a quick start against the Plainview Indians Friday night. Plainview was the one that got out quickly leading at one point 42-6.

The Panthers did come to life in the second half with 21 unanswered points to cut the lead to 15 late in the third quarter.

The Indians scored four straight times to end the game beating the Panthers 71-27.

Plainview’s Bowker scored four times to lead the Indian offensive attack. He scored four times on the ground on runs of 60, 9, 15 and 1.

Austin Carrera had 258 yards rushing with a touchdown and Taber Jordan had 225 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns.

After falling behind by 36 points the Panthers came to life in the second half.

Dewayne Sanders scored the first touchdown of the second half on a 70-yard pass from Joe Kyle Foster.

The Panthers then kicked a deep onside kick that was recovered by PV’s Jesse Williamson.

Joni Morales then caught a 30-yard pass from Joe Kyle cutting the lead to 42-20.

Again the Panthers went with the deep onside and this time Jake Hamilton came up with the loose ball. Pauls Valley moved down the  field and Carter Tate came up with a crucial catch on fourth down to keep the drive alive. Foster finished up the drive with a one-yard plunge as PV cut the lead to 15.

It was all Plainview after that, scoring on four of their next five possessions.

In all Plainview had 12 possessions in the game and scored on 10 of them. They only punted the football once and the other time they didn’t score Pauls Valley stopped them at the goal line at half time.

Morales had a big night for the Panthers with over 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Foster finished with 361 yards passing and three touchdowns and also added a rushing touchdown.

The 361 yards puts him over the 5,000 yard mark in his career and the three touchdowns passes put him at 41 for his career. Both are top marks at PV as he passes Caleb Livingston who finished his career with 4820 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Pauls Valley will be back on the road this week as they travel to Madill to face the Wildcats. Pauls Valley is still in the title hunt but they need a win to get there.
