Stratford splits with Earlsboro in weekend action

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Stratford Lady Bulldogs held their own for two quarters against the No. 9 team in Class B Earlsboro on Saturday but the Wildcats ended each half with a bang and coasted to a 65-49 win.

The Lady Bulldogs had a great start in the game and took a four-point lead against the Wildcats. Earlsboro came to life in the second quarter quickly erasing the 4-point deficit and turning it into an 8-point lead.

The Lady Bulldogs had a great start to the second half matching the Wildcats point for point. Earlsboro started pulling away in the fourth and put the game away winning by double digits.

Weast led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points. Fulp added 14 and Hatter 13 for the play in double figures for Stratford. Barrett and Alberson both added 2.

The Bulldogs on the other hand blew open a tight game with a big second quarter run and rolled to an 81-42 win to garner a split.

The game was pretty tight early on with Stratford holding an early four-point advantage. The Bulldogs came to life in the second quarter and never looked back as their pressure defense created easy baskets on offense as Stratford netted 26 points in the quarter. The continued to pull away in the third and rolled to an 81-42 win.

Trey Helm finished with a double-double 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the offense. Josh Waller and Jon Golden had 14 and 12 respectively. Chris Kozak added 9, Kyle Wright 8, Randy Brown and Brenton Willingham 6 each and Dakota Noland 2.

Stratford will host ECP tonight.
