Lady Panthers beat Atoka

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Pauls Valley Lady Panthers won their second game in three outings Saturday defeating Atoka 43-41.

PV jumped out early in the game behind four points from Cherykee Humphrey and a defense that held an athletic Atoka team to only 4 points.

Atoka came to life offensively in the second quarter. Pauls Valley continued to play a steady game behind the offense of Kallie McMahan and Veronica Alvarado as PV maintained a lead at the break 21-15.

Atoka continued to chip away at the lead in the second half cutting the lead to three by the end of the third quarter.

Mary Beth Balcerak and Alvarado kept PV in the game in the fourth quarter with five points each. The Lady Panther defense came up big late to stop Atoka giving PV a two-point win.

Alvarado finished with 12 points to lead the Lady Panthers. McMahan added 8, Balcerak 7, Trammell and Humphrey both finished with 5 and A. Grimmett, Richardson and Mars all had two each.

Bass and Stephens led Atoka with 16 and 14 respectively.
