The Wynnewood Savage offense was spectacular and the defense wasn’t shabby either as they went on the road to No. 3 Thomas and defeated the Terriers 42-21 to advance to next week’s Class A semifinals.
The Savage offense racked up 538 total yards behind 215 yards by Trey Knowles and another 146 by Curtis Rushing on the ground.
Knowles scored four times in the game and Rushing added two more touchdowns for the Savages.
Wynnewood found themselves down early in the game as Thomas scored the first touchdown of the game. Knowles would score three times before th half was up to give WW a 21-7 halftime lead.
Knowles would score again on the Savages opening possession of the second half for a 28-7 lead. That’s where the lead would stay until the fourth quarter when Rushing got involved in the scoring. Curtis scored twice in the fourth quarter to give WW a comfortable 42-7 lead.
Thomas would score two late touchdowns against the Savages second team defense to make the final 42-21.
Wynnewood advances to the Class A State Semifinals where they will face Cashion a 43-24 winner over Talihina. Game time will be set this weekend and the game will be played at a neutral site, probably in the OKC metro area.
Wynnewood moves to 12-0 on the season while handing Thomas their first loss.
