The Elmore City-Pernell Lady Badgers and the Paoli Pugs both advanced to Friday’s consolation finals after wins on Wednesday in the Big 8 Conference Tournament.
Elmore City used a big first half and cruised to a 72-12 win over rival Maysville. Rebecca Herrod 13 of her game high 16 points in the first half with 10 of those coming in the first quarter to lead the Lady Badgers out to the huge lead.
Five different girls scored in the opening quarter and 10 of the 11 girls on the roster scored as least two points in the game.
Sophia Landers added 14 points in the game and Cali Nelson added 13 for the three Lady Badgers in double figures.
Carolyn Cordell and Brooklynn House led Maysville with 5 points each.
Elmore will face CCS who defeated a short handed Paoli squad 55-24. Paoli is suiting up only six girls but they still played hard against the private Norman/Moore school.
Paoli’s Jessica Spivey had 12 points to lead the Lady Pugs while Hannah Czarnacki added 10.
CCS was led by Addison Hall who had a game high 14 points. Katy Boyles added 13 and Abby White 10 for the players in double figures.
In the boys consolation semifinal, Aaron Webster scored a game high 25 points including 4-of-5 from the free throw line late to lead the Paoli Pugs to a 55-34 win over the Maysville Warriors.
Paoli built an early lead in the game and put some distance between them and Maysville in the second quarter with a 10-0 run. They out scored Masyville 14-5 in the quarter and took a 25-12 lead.
Maysville stayed close in the game cutting the lead to single digits behind a 12-point third quarter from Dalton Elmore. Elmore finished with a team high 15 points.
Paoli was able to pull away in the fourth quarter for the win.
Paoli’s Andrew Duncan had 11 points for the only other play in double figures.
Paoli will face Dibble in the consolation finals after they defeated Stratford JV.
