A pesky Wynnewood Savage team just wouldn’t go away Tuesday night at home against Elmore City-Pernell. The Badgers built a 20-point lead in the second half only to have Wynnewood cut it to single digits before ECP pulled away for a 13-point 64-51 win.
Elmore jumped out early behind the hot shooting of Chace McCaskill and Zac Burks who had 8 and 7 respectively. Jace Brown countered the Elmore City offense by hitting seven points of his own for the Savages including 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Wynnewood was able to trim the 11-point first quarter deficit by one in the second quarter to trail by only 10 at the break. Jared Campbell held lead the charge in the second quarter for Wynnewood with six points while Brown added four.
Quinton Stueart took over in the second half for the Badgers. “Q” scored 12 of his game high 16 points in the second half including a two-handed game off a steal that pushed ECP’s lead to 20 in the third quarter.
Wynnewood started making a push at the end of the third and Levi Phillips five quick points to start the fourth helped cut the lead to single digits. ECP finally got going in the fourth behind five points from “Q” and finished with a 13-point win.
“Q” led all scorers with 16 points. McCaskill and Gonzales both finished in double figures with 14 and 10 respectively. Collins and Burks both added eight and Hair finished with 7.
Phillips led the Savages with 14 and Campbell and Brown both finished with 12 each. Carter added 6, Schafer 5 and Wright 1.
