marie@pvdemocrat.com — Three weeks remain and the races are tightening up around the area for playoff positioning. All the teams are still alive in Garvin County but a couple are hanging by a thread.



3A-4 After wins last week, Madill and Pauls Valley are in the drivers seat with Plainview nipping at their heals. Pauls Valley has to face both teams in the final two weeks of the season and with a win over one of them could find themselves at home in Week 11.



Atoka at Pauls Valley The Panthers are starting to get healthy again at tailback and this week may be a chance for them to heal even more. Atoka is 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in district play. They have some big kids up front and some speed they just haven’t been able to put together a game offensively. Defensively, they have struggled to stop teams giving up an average of 43 points per game. They have giving up an average of 57 in district play. There will be a lot of emotion on the field and in the stands as the Panthers play their final regular season home game.



A-5 After the 3 “W’s” Wayne, Wynnewood and Wewoka, District A-5 seems to be a toss up. Four teams, Caddo, Elmore City-Pernell, Maysville and Stratford are all battling for that final spot. Elmore-Pernell has a slight advantage having already played the 3 “W’s,” but Stratford has a win up on all four having beat Caddo a couple of weeks back. Caddo and Stratford are in the middle of the big three.



Elmore City-Pernell vs BYE The Elmore City-Pernell Badgers have a bye this week. They will need to hit the ground running in their final two weeks with a playoff game on the line. They still have to play Caddo and Stratford in the final two weeks.



Stratford at Wynnewood The Stratford Bulldogs face their final district “W” team as they travel to Wynnewood Thursday night. Stratford had their chances last week against Wewoka but the Tigers scored 22 straight to pull away in the end. The Bulldogs have their work cut out for them this week against the No. 1 team in Class A Wynnewood. The Savages offense went wild last week scoring 84 points against defending Class B champ Caddo. The Savages have added a passing game to their already powerful rushing attack. Jace Brown had over 200 yards passing last week in the win.



Maysville at Caddo Maysville will look to stay in the playoff hunt as they travel to Caddo to face the Bruins. Both teams are 0’fer in district play but only trail the teams tied for the fourth and final playoff spot by one game. Maysville may be catching Caddo at a good time after giving up 80 points last week to Wynnewood. Maysville didn’t have much success against Elmore City last week but did have their best offensive output of the season the week before in a loss to No. 7 Cashion.



B-2 Fox is the team to beat in B-2. After that six teams are fighting for the final three playoff spots.



OCA at Paoli After last week’s come from behind win over Waurika, the Pugs now have a great opportunity to get into the playoffs. With their remaining three games, this week’s game with OCA may prove to be the toughest. OCA is one game behind Paoli and is one of the six teams within two games of each other. D.J. Moore and the Pug passing game came up big last week and could be a difference maker this week.
