Dyllan Brassfield paced the Elmore City-Pernell attack with 20 points as the Badgers moved to 4-0 with a 67-49 win over the Alex Longhorns Thursday night.
Brassfield was one of three Badgers to hit the double digit mark in the game as Jonathan Harrel and Joshua Terrell had 12 and 10 points respectively.
The Badgers used their defensive pressure to jump out to an early 9-0 lead behind Terrell’s 5 points.
ECP would never trail in the game despite several runs by Alex that cut the Badger lead down. Alex would get as close as three at one-point in the first half but would trail by as many as 21 in the game.
Jonathan Harrel would pace the Badgers in their 21-point first quarter with 8 points. ECP scored nine straight to start and the six in a row late in taking a 21-14 lead.
The lead stayed around seven until midway through the second quarter when Elmore went on a 10-2 run behind four points from Jay Anderson and opened up a 15-point lead at the break, 41-26.
After an Alex basket to start the second half, Brassfield had five points as ECP scored eight straight and opened up their largest lead of the game at 21.
Alex fought back over a six minute stretch in the third and fourth quarters. They slowly chipped away at the ECP lead and a 7-0 run in the middle of the fourth quarter cut the lead to 11.
After the lead was cut to 10, Colt McConnell had two big baskets that started and 8-0 at the end of the game for an 18-point win.
Elmore will look to stay undefeated tonight as they travel to Empire to face the Bulldogs.
