Despite battling the flu in Elmore City-Pernell the last couple of days, the Badgers shook it off Thursday night for a 77-58 win over the Fox Foxes.
One Badger starter, a key reserve and three other players have been battling the flu. The starter, Dyllan Brassfield, didn’t show any ill effects as he scored a game high 26 points to lead the Badgers to the win.
Elmore jumped out early behind their pressure defense and never looked back. An 11-4 run turned into a 20-7 first quarter lead. Brassfield had 10 points in the quarter including a three pointer at the buzzer that gave them the 13-point lead.
The lead grew to 17 in the second quarter before Fox scored seven straight to cut it back to 10. Elmore would finish out the quarter on a 7-2 run behind four points from Brassfield as ECP opened up a 33-18 halftime lead.
Fox came out determined in the second half and quickly cut the lead to 10. Joshua Terrell then paced a 9-2 run that got the Badgers going again as he scored six of those points.
Elmore kept them at arms length the rest of the way posting a 19-point win.
