Hot shooting Seminole sinks Panthers

A hot shooting Seminole Chieftain squad broke open a tight game with a 25-point third quarter and pulled away from Pauls Valley for a 59-40 win ending the Panthers season.

Seminole hit 10-of-14 shots in the third quarter including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc as they turned a 25-25 tie into a 50-33 lead. Pauls Valley wasn’t able to get back in the game as Seminole ran clock in the fourth quarter for a 19-point win.

Caleb Livingston kept Pauls Valley in the game with 11 first half points. Livingston had three 3-pointers in the first half and finished with five and a team high 17 points.

Seminole grabbed an early lead in the game but Livingston and Dereck Owens led the Panthers back as they combined for four 3-pointers in the second quarter giving PV a 25-21 lead.

Seminole fought back with four straight in the final minute tying the game at 25 at the break.

Seminole came out the locker room on fire. Nearly everything the Chieftains shot found the bottom of the net. Trevor Martin had 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting and Bryton Cravens had nine points in the quarter hitting 4-of-5 shots. Seminole proved their hotness at the end of the quarter when Tristan Johnson hit a 35-footer at the buzzer for a 50-33 lead.

Pauls Valley’s leading scorer all season didn’t score his first basket until the 6:30 mark of the fourth quarter and he finished with nine points, seven in the fourth. PV never got back into the game after the four minute mark in the third quarter and Seminole rolled to the win.

Pauls Valley’s seniors - Caleb Livingston, Tyler Harding, Tyler Presgrove and Sam Halverson - wrap up great careers on the hardwood and now move to spring sports.
