Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — Sulphur Democratic Rep. Wes Hilliard says he won't seek reelection to his south-central Oklahoma House seat in the fall.
Hilliard announced on Thursday his plans to step down, saying he wants to spend more time with his family and find a job closer to his home in Sulphur.
Hilliard was single without children when he was first elected in 2004, but got married in 2008 and now has two young sons. He says the birth of his second son earlier this session has made leaving his family even more difficult.
Hilliard's newly drawn District 22 includes portions of Garvin, Murray and Johnston counties, including the communities of Wynnewood, Sulphur, Tishomingo, Atoka and Lake Texoma.
