Blanchard coasts past PV

marie@pvdemocrat.com — Blanchard took advantage of a turnover plagued third quarter to break open a tight game and coasted to a 62-40 win over Pauls Valley Friday night at the Panther Gymnasium.

Pauls Valley held an early lead in the game but Blanchard was able to open up a slight lead and held an 11-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Nelson had seven of the Lions 11 points while three different Panthers got into the scoring column in the opening quarter for the Panthers.

The Panthers stayed within striking distance the rest of the half and didn’t let Blanchard increase their lead any further despite Wright’s three 3-pointers.

Hill took over for Blanchard in the third quarter with 12 points and the defense held Pauls Valley to 10 as Blanchard opened up a 17-point lead.

Pauls Valley chipped away at the lead in the fourth to cut it to single digits but a late run by the Lions pushed Blanchard to a 22-point lead.

Pauls Valley will look to rebound tonight as they face Plainview in the Charles K. Heatly Classic being held in Lindsay.

Helping meet a need

Acting as an example of the kindness that has resulted from a request for donations from Main Street Pauls Valley, local resident Holley Sanders is seen here helping carry supplies along with Paramedic John Stegall to her truck earlier this morning. EMS through Pauls Valley General Hospital is another local organization that has helped gather items and take it to the Main Street Office at the corner of Paul and Walnut Streets. "Two friends of mine lost their homes and I felt for them," said Sanders, who is among those who have offered to take items to a drop off site in Norman. "I wanted to do something." More information will be included in stories and photos in Thursday's edition of the PV Democrat. A list of needed items can be found here: http://mainstreetpaulsvalley.com/
