Mary Elizabeth Aldridge

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Mary Elizabeth Aldridge of Doyle, Oklahoma was born to Rev. R.G. and Helen (Wasson) Sloan on June 9, 1942 in Independence, Kansas and passed from this life on Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Islip, New York at the age of 70 years.

Mary grew up and attended school in Borger, Texas. She attended Draughn’s Business College in Amarillo, Texas. She worked as a painter for Rangair in Cleburne, Texas. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, reading, and working crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Aldridge is survived by her son, Jerry Don Aldridge and wife Melba of Doyle, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Johnny Sloan and wife Laura of Guymon, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Betty Baxter and husband Floyd of Pampa, Texas, and Martha Gibson of Guymon, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Jerri Mae Aldridge, Autumn Balderson, Bubba Vassar, and Saunya Vassar; and 3 great-grandchildren: Darby, Dakota, and Lemuel Vassar.

Mrs. Aldridge was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Joe Aldridge.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Purdy Cemetery with Pastor Jean Patterson of the Doyle Community Church officiating.

Bringing a colorful angle to the Vacation Bible School scene this past week, these girls were some of those who participated in the summer pastime at Pauls Valley’s Church of Christ. Here they decorate t-shirts with craft paint before moving to the next station.

A student winds up for a swing during a tennis camp this week at the Pauls Valley courts. Students from PV, Ardmore and Western Heights took part in the camp conducted by OSU tennis coach Chris Young.
