Wynnewood Ladies avenge loss to Stratford

marie@pvdemocrat.com — The Wynnewood Lady Savages avenged an earlier loss to the Stratford Lady Bulldogs with a 42-37 win on the Bulldogs home court Tuesday.

Stratford (10-3) had a four game win streak coming into the game that included an Alex Longhorn Classic championship on Saturday.

Challen Carter, Hannah Rose and Burrough helped lead the Lady Savages out of the gate. Burrough scored the first two baskets of the game and finished with 6 points in the quarter.

Carter and Rose both chipped in four as Wynnewood opened up a 14-9 lead. Five different girls had points for the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Savages would maintain their five point lead in through half time as both teams scored eight points each in the second quarter.

Paced by Erica Helpingstine’s six points, Wynnewood built a double digit lead in the third quarter. Lacy Hatter and Weast helped keep Stratford in the game with four-point each but the Lady Savages had a 10-point leading going into the final quarter.

Stratford made a run in the fourth behind Hatter’s six points. Wynnewood hit just enough free throws down the stretch 4-of-6 attempts to escape with a 6-point win.
