Leopards fall in overtime

marie@pvdemocrat.com — A long three-point shot by Crooked Oak’s Ballard set Friday’s Area Tournament elimination game with Lindsay into overtime. It was all Crooked Oak in the extra session as they pulled away for a 54-44 win ending the Leopards season at 13-15.

The very physical game went back and forth between the two teams.

Lindsay looked like they were going to take control of the game when Caden Verble hit four free throws midway through the fourth quarter. He hit two for a foul and two more for a Crooked Oak technical foul.

Lindsay held the lead until late when Crooked Oak finally tied the game at 39. Lindsay hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final 30 seconds. Ballard then hit the long three pointer for Crooked Oak to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Crooked Oak scored four quick points to start the overtime and didn’t look back in the 10-point win.

Senior Andrew Cummins ended his career with a double double scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Tanner Shoemake added 11, Verble 10, Hunter Mason 9, Tyler Miller 5 and Jared Gilliam 2.

Helping meet a need

Acting as an example of the kindness that has resulted from a request for donations from Main Street Pauls Valley, local resident Holley Sanders is seen here helping carry supplies along with Paramedic John Stegall to her truck earlier this morning. EMS through Pauls Valley General Hospital is another local organization that has helped gather items and take it to the Main Street Office at the corner of Paul and Walnut Streets. "Two friends of mine lost their homes and I felt for them," said Sanders, who is among those who have offered to take items to a drop off site in Norman. "I wanted to do something." More information will be included in stories and photos in Thursday's edition of the PV Democrat. A list of needed items can be found here: http://mainstreetpaulsvalley.com/
