Early ballots for school races

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Voters in three Garvin County school districts still have time to put their requests in for absentee ballots for some school board elections right around the corner.

An election is set for Feb. 12 when it comes to board of education races in the Elmore City-Pernell, Wynnewood and Maysville school districts.

Any registered voter looking to vote by absentee ballots have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 to submit their request.

Absentee ballot application forms are available at the Garvin County Election Board office located in the county courthouse in Pauls Valley or go to www.ok.gov/elections online.

Any registered voter in the three school districts can also vote early with in-person absentee ballots.

The in-person absentee voting will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 and Monday, Feb. 11 at the Election Board office.

As for the elections, there a total of four races lined up for the trio of school districts.

• The race for a five-year office on the ECP school board is between Derrick Tadlock and Joe Lewis.

• Three candidates for a five-year office in Wynnewood include Terry Brown, A. John Geiger and Donnie Rollings.

• Another race in Wynnewood, this one for a three-year unexpired term, is being contested by Brittany Pittman and Pat LaMascus.

• The contest for a three-year unexpired term in Maysville includes Cindy White and Tyler Dean.

Sample ballots for the school election are now available at the Election Board office.

A Call for Donations

Helping spread the word in as many places as possible Tuesday morning, Pauls Valley resident Kalista Basaldua puts up Main Street Pauls Valley posters listing items needed for those impacted by Monday’s tornado in the Moore area. Since word started spreading, the response has been overwhelmingly positive with several truck loads dropped off at a distribution point in Norman.
