Ruby Lee Engle

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Ruby Lee Engle of Pauls Valley was born May 28, 1928 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Jefferson Carol and Mary Lula (Love) Brumley.

Ruby passed from this life on February 11, 2013 at her home at the age of 84 years.

Ruby was a member of the First Church of God in Pauls Valley. She grew up in Garvin County and graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1948.

She was married to Kenneth Paul Engle in Odessa, Texas on March 27, 1957.

Over the years she has worked at many places including Old Reavis Drug Store, Fields Restaurant, Ben’s Country Kitchen, she operated the Grant Street Restaurant and worked at Jone’s, Neta’s and Mimi’s. She also worked as a Caregiver for many families in and around Pauls Valley.

Ruby was a hard worker and she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; 7 brothers: Bill, Henry, Freeman, Ott, Tom, John and Leonard; and 6 sisters: Pearl, Myrtle, Carrie, Sarah, Bertha and Dorothy.

Surviving family include her sons Chris Brumley of Paoli, Jeff Engle, and Mike Engle; a daughter, Kay Burnett, and one sister, Rosa Brumley, all of Pauls Valley; 9 grandchildren: Scott, Stephanie, Alicia, Sarah, Kyle, Paula, Brian, Raven and River; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Brumley of Pauls Valley and Lois Brumley of Oklahoma City; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Terry Clayton.

Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Joining the Pauls Valley City Council officially for the first time during Tuesday’s meeting, Patrick Grimmett was sworn in by acting Mayor Billy Riddle that evening. He joins the council after defeating former Mayor Tim Gamble in the elections held on April 2.
