Mary Deen Manning

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Funeral services for Mary Deen Manning, 89, of Pauls Valley will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in the Stufflebean Chapel with Rev. Rondell Killgore officiating.

Interment will be in the White Bead Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. Mary Deen passed away February 16, 2013 at her home in White Bead after an extended illness.

She was born to Harvey and Sue (Kimberlin) Williams on June 23, 1923 in White Bead. On February 18, 1944, she married the late Harold L. Manning in Ardmore, Oklahoma. They made their home and reared their family in White Bead.

Mrs. Manning’s life was devoted to her family. She was a homemaker and caregiver all her adult life. After rearing her children she cared for both her mother and father in the latter stages of their lives and her husband before he passed away in 2003.

Mrs. Manning was a true humanitarian. She never turned away a family member, friend or foe. She was an animal lover too, who couldn’t turn away a stray that wandered into her life either.

Mary Deen, as known to all who knew her, touched many lives. She was known for her cooking, her undoubting love for all and her kindness. Her smile was the highlight of her demeanor.

She was a lifetime member of the White Bead Methodist Church. And she cared for the White Bead Cemetery for a number of years.

Mrs. Manning was a longtime member of the Homesteaders EHG and a 4-H leader who devoted untold hours and tireless energy helping further the education and character of children.

Her work and membership with the Rural Letter Carriers Ladies Auxiliary coincided with that of her husband. The couple was involved in the association on a district, state and national level.

Another of Mrs. Manning’s good deeds was organizing the senior citizen’s dance at White Bead School. She and Harold loved to dance to Bob Wills music.

Mrs. Manning is survived by her daughter, Susie Williams-Allen and her husband Tony Allen of the home; a son, Harold Deen Manning; five grandchildren: Thomas Williams and wife Amber of the home, Deena Manning and Kenneth Manning of the home, Kristie Manning of Pauls Valley and Ricky Manning and wife Sandra of Pauls Valley; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death was her husband Harold, sister Kathleen Smyers, parents Harve and Sue Williams, great-grandchildren Jasie and Mitchell Cozort and a special former daughter-in-law, Anita Winn.

Memorials may be made to the White Bead Methodist Church, 404 N. East Ave., Pauls Valley, OK 73075 or a charity of choice.
