Pauls Valley, Oklahoma —
A drinking impaired driver is the listed cause of a one-vehicle accident over the weekend in far western Garvin County.
State troopers reported it was a man driving under the influence of alcohol that caused the accident Sunday night, March 3.
Later taken to a hospital was 28-year-old Charles Hampton of Maysville.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report shows Hampton was alone while driving a 2010 Chevrolet pickup northbound on state Highway 76 when at a listed time of 8:12 p.m. Sunday the vehicle went off the roadway at a site about 10 miles south of Lindsay.
After the truck went off the highway to the right it struck a tree, reported OHP Trooper Tommy Riddle of the Garvin County Detachment.
Hampton, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was taken by Lindsay E.M.S. to Norman Regional Hospital.
He was admitted in stable condition with a head injury, the report shows.
The cause of the accident was officially listed as “alcohol - DUI.”
Assisting at the wreck site were troopers from Stephens and McClain counties and Lindsay firefighters.
