Barbara Jean Morris

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Barbara Jean Morris, 83, was born February 13, 1930 in Oklahoma City to Ray and Eunice (Hankins) Boyter. She died March 13, 2013 in Norman.

Barbara grew up in Oklahoma City and spent two years at Hobart High where she was a drum majorette.

She married Virgil Wayne Morris on June 24, 1949 in Frederick. After being a farmer’s wife and raising three sons, she received a BS from SWOSU and a Master’s in Social Work from OU. She was a member of Mensa.

Barbara was a Child Welfare worker for DHS in Garvin County for 25 years. She assisted with many adoptions and was a mentor to many new MSWs. Barbara was also in the antiques and collectibles business.

She is survived by her husband Virgil of 63 years; sons Rick Morris and wife Angie of Arlington, Texas, and Neal Morris and wife Julie of Norman; sister Janice Barton and husband Winston of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren, Marla Morris and Jeff Morris, both of Norman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sue Jones and son Mark Morris.

Memorial contributions to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma City.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Terry Clayton.

Interment followed at Gotebo Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
